KAYACAR®: Wooden Electric Micro-Mobility Experience the world like a "land kayak"—leisurely, freely, and sustainably.

KAYACAR®: A New Horizon in Wooden Mobility
KAYACAR® is a unique wooden electric cart designed by Toru Mizushima, Chief Engineer and an esteemed mobility lecturer at institutions including Toyota Technical College Tokyo and Meisei University. This innovative project marks a significant milestone as the first wooden cart in Japan to be officially classified as a "Specified Small Motorized Bicycle" (Electric Micro-Mobility).

Designed to be accessible, KAYACAR® can be operated by anyone aged 16 or older without a driver's license. With a gentle maximum speed of 20 km/h, it invites users to slow down and truly connect with their surroundings. More than just a vehicle, it offers the experience of a "land kayak"—gliding gracefully through the landscape, allowing the rider to feel the breeze and the rhythm of the world.

By blending traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering, KAYACAR® redefines the future of personal mobility as a serene, wooden journey.

Educational materials for learning mobility manufacturing and the potential for utilizing resources in tourist destinations.

Education and Regional Revitalization
Originally developed as a hands-on educational tool for technical colleges, vocational schools, and universities, KAYACAR® has now evolved into its sixth generation. This project serves as a powerful catalyst for student engagement, providing a practical platform to master technical drawing, 3D-CAD design, and real-world prototyping.

The wooden frame is designed for accessibility; it requires no heavy industrial machinery and can be crafted using basic tools like a hand saw. This makes it an ideal entry point for learning the fundamentals of manufacturing.

Beyond the classroom, KAYACAR® holds immense potential for the future of tourism. It offers a unique opportunity for collaborations with local timber resources, DIY workshops, and sustainable sightseeing experiences that allow visitors to explore regional landscapes at a gentle, rhythmic pace.
